At its Wednesday’s session, the National Assembly passed, in the second and final reading, the bill on amendments to the law on the preservation and use of immovable monuments of history and culture and the historical environment in Armenia and related laws.

These amendments provide for a ban on the sale or transfer of religious monuments by the Armenian Apostolic Church to third parties without the consent of the government of Armenia.

A total of 66 MPs voted in favor of the legislative initiative, and 20 against.

The authors of this bill are lawmakers Sisak Gabrielyan and Taguhi Ghazaryan from the ruling majority faction.
