Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Mohammed Hassan Habibollahzad has been summoned to Turkey's Foreign Ministry in connection with the launch of a ballistic projectile from Iranian territory toward Turkish airspace, Turkish Foreign Ministry sources told Anadolu.

The diplomat was informed of Ankara's concern and reaction regarding the incident.

Earlier, Turkey's Ministry of National Defense reported that the ballistic munition launched from Iran toward Turkish airspace was neutralized by NATO air defense and missile defense systems deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also conveyed Turkey's reaction during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, emphasizing the need to avoid any steps that could lead to further escalation of the conflict.
