The Russian 102nd Military Base in Gyumri, Armenia has not blocked the country’s view to the path to building cooperation with the West. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a press briefing held at the government Thursday, as he responded to the question whether the aforementioned military base hinders Armenia’s policy towards the West.

The premier considered the question incorrect, and said that Armenia is not going anywhere.

“Fortunately or unfortunately, we [i.e. Armenia] are not at the point on the road where the Russian military base will block our path. When we see that the Russian military base is blocking our view, then we will think about how to move so that we do not have a view problem,” Pashinyan explained.

Also, the PM emphasized that Armenia does not set itself a task of worsening its relations with Russia.

"We have no tasks, we have not had and we will not have tasks to worsen relations with Russia. We have no tasks, we have not had and we will not have tasks to harm Russia's interests," said Nikol Pashinyan.
