Yerevan and Moscow are holding working-level discussions on the Russian concession management of Armenian railways. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a press briefing held at the government Thursday—and in response the question of whether the possibility of transferring the concession management of Armenia’s railways to another country, which was previously discussed by some members of the Armenian authorities, remains on the agenda of the authorities.

The Armenian premier assured that nothing in these statements was directed against Russia. The only thing that concerns the Armenian side is that without timely modernization, Armenia's railways simply will not be able to service new amounts of cargo transportation, especially after the opening of regional communications.

"We [i.e. Armenia] are simply sharing the objective situation with our partners, saying that we are simply losing Armenia's competitive advantages in this situation. We have no other motivation, and I hope that we will be able to reach concrete solutions," Pashinyan said.
