The allegations of strikes carried out from Iranian territory are completely groundless, the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan has noted in a statement Thursday.

“Maintaining and developing friendly relations with neighboring countries, especially the Republic of Azerbaijan, is the principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The allegations of strikes carried out from Iranian territory are completely groundless.

Following the military aggression against Iran by the criminal US and the child-murdering Zionist regime [i.e. Israel], the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on its legitimate right to self-defense, has taken certain measures in recent days against the military bases of the US and the Zionist regime. These actions were in no way directed against friendly and neighboring states; the target is solely the military bases of the aggressor parties.

The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran officially and openly declare their military operations and inform the public about them.

Taking into account the ‘deceptive actions’ carried out by the Zionist regime to create tension between neighboring countries, as well as the provocations being carried out under a so called ‘foreign flag’ observed in recent days, the Nakhchivan incident must be thoroughly investigated,” the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan said in its statement.
