The Cabinet of Ministers has released information about the decision to suspend the movement of trucks across the state border between Azerbaijan and Iran, Azerbaijani media report, citing the government.

“As reported, on March 5 drone attacks were carried out from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran against civilian infrastructure in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Nakhchivan International Airport, a school and other facilities came under fire from Iran. As a result of the attacks, several civilians were injured and the airport terminal building was damaged.

Taking into account the situation that has arisen as a result of these attacks, which contradict the norms and principles of international law, the Cabinet of Ministers has adopted an appropriate decision to completely suspend the movement of грузовых автомобилей (including transit ones) through all checkpoints on the state border between Azerbaijan and Iran,” the Azerbaijani government’s statement said.
