Explosions were heard near the international airport in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, Reuters reports.

AFP, in turn, reports that residents of the UAE capital heard a series of loud explosions, while the UAE’s air defense responded to a missile threat.

“Air defense systems are currently responding to a missile threat,” the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority said in a statement.
