US President Donald Trump said he believes Tehran may itself be responsible for the attack on a girls' elementary school in southern Iran, responding to journalists' questions.

"Based on what I've seen, I think it was done by Iran," Trump stated.

Journalists also asked Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, who was standing nearby, to comment. He claimed that "only Iran strikes civilians."

On February 28, Iranian authorities stated that the strike on the girls' elementary school in the southern city of Minab was carried out by the US and Israel. The latest death toll stands at 165 — mostly female students, as well as parents and teachers. Another 95 people were wounded.
