The presidential administration of Turkey, after the destruction of a missile in the country's skies, has called on Iran to refrain from further escalation of tension in the region.

"The ballistic missile launched from Iran and aimed at our country was intercepted and neutralized in the sky of the Sahinbey district of the city of Gaziantep by NATO air and missile defense forces in a timely manner. There were no casualties or injuries as a result of the incident," said Burhanettin Duran, the Turkish Presidency's Head of Communications.

According to him, all relevant departments, first of all, the country's Ministry of National Defense, are operating in full coordination.

Duran added that Turkey's capabilities to protect its own airspace and ensure border security are at the highest level.
