France has demanded an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with the sharp deterioration of the situation in Lebanon amid Israel's military operation.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced this on X, saying Paris considers it necessary to urgently discuss the situation on an international platform due to the worsening conditions in the region.

The French foreign minister also noted that France is already providing humanitarian aid to the Lebanese population, having allocated €6 million to humanitarian organizations and dispatched 20 tonnes of aid.

Barrot emphasized that France is continuing diplomatic contacts with Israeli and Lebanese authorities, seeking to achieve a ceasefire and the disarmament of Hezbollah.
