Azerbaijani and Turkish Foreign Ministers Jeyhun Bayramov and Hakan Fidan discussed the current security situation and growing tensions in the region.
During the phone call, the sides discussed "the risks associated with recent events amid military escalation and their impact on regional stability." Bayramov condemned "the missile strike on the territory of the Republic of Turkey and expressed support for the brotherly Turkish people."
According to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, it was noted that further military escalation could lead to undesirable consequences, and an exchange of views took place on possible steps to promote a dialogue atmosphere. "It was particularly emphasized that attacks on neighboring countries and any steps directed against the territorial integrity of sovereign states are unacceptable during a conflict." The sides also noted that "the strategic alliance and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey are of great importance in the current complex geopolitical environment, and in this context the importance of continuing mutual consultations and coordination on regional issues between the two countries was underscored."
