Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said that the US and Israeli strikes on the country's fuel infrastructure facilities are an environmental crime, IRNA reports.

According to her, the US and Israeli attacks on Iran’s oil and fuel facilities have had serious consequences for the environment and led to a deterioration of the ecological situation.

"After the attack on Iran's fuel infrastructure, we witnessed an environmental crime," Mohajerani said, commenting on the consequences of these strikes.

She stated that after the attacks, fires broke out at a number of Iran’s facilities and there were emissions of combustion products, which, according to the Iranian authorities, led to an increase in air pollution, including in the capital Tehran region.

According to the Iranian government spokesperson, such attacks pose a threat to the health of the population and may have long-term consequences for the environment.

Mohajerani added that Iran views these attacks on its energy infrastructure not only as a military escalation, but also as an attack on civilian objects and the country's ecological security.

According to her, the Iranian authorities are recording the consequences of what happened and intend to draw the attention of the international community to the ecological damage caused by these attacks.
