The Israeli army illegally used white phosphorus munitions over residential areas of the southern Lebanese town of Yohmor on March 3, posing a threat to civilians, Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported.

The organization said it was able to verify eight images showing the use of white phosphorus in a residential part of Yohmor, as well as civil defense workers extinguishing fires in the area.

According to Reuters, the Israeli army said it is not aware of and cannot confirm the use of white phosphorus shells in Lebanon.
