Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Abbas Araghchi discussed the situation in the Middle East, which has sharply deteriorated as a result of unprovoked US-Israeli aggression against Iran.

According to Russia's Foreign Ministry, Lavrov reiterated his principled position in favor of the earliest possible de-escalation and a return of the situation to the path of political and diplomatic settlement, to which the Russian side remains consistently ready to contribute with due regard for the security interests of Iran and its regional neighbors.
