International lawyer Robert Amsterdam wrote on his Facebook page expressing gratitude to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom for preparing a harsh report on Nikol Pashinyan's attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Church.

He noted in particular: "I draw your attention to a remarkable passage from the report: 'During 2025, Prime Minister Pashinyan proposed creating and personally appointed members of a council to elect a new AAC leader and presented a list of clergy supporting his agenda to oust the incumbent Catholicos. Pashinyan's campaign against Catholicos Garegin II was accompanied by detentions of AAC clergy and those laypersons who criticized his government or became political opposition.'"
