Iran has allowed vessels from some countries to cross the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said in an interview with AFP.

He also denied reports that Iran is laying mines there, as the waterway remains effectively closed during the war with the US and Israel.

"Some countries have already spoken with us about passage through the strait, and we have cooperated with them. As for Iran, we believe that those countries that have joined the aggression should not benefit from safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz," the Iranian deputy foreign minister said.

Takht-Ravanchi added that Iran is not laying mines in the strait.

He also stated that Iran wants to be certain it will not have war imposed on it in the future. "We want to make sure that war is no longer imposed on Iran. When the war started last June, after 12 days there was a so-called cessation of hostilities... but after eight or nine months they regrouped and did it again," the Iranian deputy foreign minister said.
