The elite unit of the Iranian armed forces, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), will strengthen its positions in Iran after the end of the conflict, The Washington Post columnist David Ignatius has noted.

In his assessment, the conflicting parties will sooner or later sign a ceasefire, but the hypothetical military victory of the US and Israel will not mean the realization of their political objectives.

According to the columnist, after the conflict, Iran will turn into "Islamic Republic 2.0."

Also, Ignatius believes that the IRGC will become the dominant force in Iran in the near future.

He calls for recognition that in today's environment, bombings aimed at suppressing willpower are counterproductive.

The analyst suggests that attacks on schools and cultural heritage sites in Iran could fuel public anger toward the US and Israel.
