Around 1,000 vessels are currently awaiting passage through the Strait of Hormuz, including approximately 200 oil tankers carrying essential cargo around the world, Al Jazeera reports.

Oil markets have reacted with sharp price increases, and fuel costs are rising in countries around the world as Iranian forces continue to control the strategic waterway.

As a reminder, the Strait of Hormuz was closed by Iran in response to US and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.

Earlier today, the media reported that Iran granted permission for two Indian gas tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, despite the general blockade of the strategic waterway.
