Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described Israel's strikes on fuel depots in the Iranian capital, Tehran, as an “ecocide” and called for the Israeli authorities to be punished.
“Israel’s bombings of fuel depots in Tehran violate international law and constitute ecocide,” Araghchi wrote on X. “Residents face long-term damage to their health and well-being. Contamination of soil and groundwater could have generational impacts.”
Israel “must be punished for its war crimes,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced that it had struck targets in Tehran early Monday morning.
Following the strikes in Beirut, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has launched a series of large-scale strikes against the infrastructure of the Iranian "terrorist regime" in Tehran, the IDF said in a statement.
