Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday received the newly appointed Bulgarian ambassador to Armenia, Nikola Nikolov, the PM’s office informs.

Pashinyan congratulated the ambassador on assuming the post and expressed hope that during his tenure, Armenia-Bulgaria cooperation will continue to develop and expand. Nikol Pashinyan noted that bilateral relations between the two countries have been dynamic in recent years, and there is a high-level political dialogue. Also, the Armenian head of state attached importance to Bulgaria’s support in strengthening Armenia-European Union cooperation.

Nikola Nikolov, for his part, thanked for the warm welcome and noted that Armenia is one of Bulgaria’s important partners in the South Caucasus and his country attaches great importance to the consistent development of ties between the two countries in various domains. The ambassador stressed the need to develop trade and economic cooperation, as well as to give new impetus to cooperation in energy, tourism, and transport. At the same time, Nikola Nikolov expressed Bulgaria's support for the Armenian government's "Crossroads of Peace" project.

Next, the interlocutors exchanged views on cooperation in the above-mentioned domains, as well as in education and culture.

The establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan as well as regional cooperation were also touched upon.
