Armenia's Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MESCS), Zhanna Andreasyan, received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia, Khalil Shirqolami. Deputy Minister of MESCS Artur Martirosyan was also present at the meeting.
According to the Ministry, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment, wishing him productive work: "I am confident that your activities will contribute to the continued and effective cooperation between our two states, for the benefit of developing the friendly ties between Armenia and Iran."
The Minister recalled the jubilee concert held in September of the previous year at the Persepolis complex in Iran, marking the 100th anniversary of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, and expressed gratitude for the warm and high-level reception. She also noted that during the visit of the Islamic Republic of Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian to the Republic of Armenia, a number of bilateral cooperation documents were signed.
Ambassador Khalil Shirqolami thanked the Minister for the reception, emphasizing that there is significant potential for cooperation in the areas coordinated by the MESCS, and that every effort would be made to facilitate their implementation and bring the signed agreements to life.
The meeting highlighted the importance of cooperation between Armenian higher education institutions and Iranian academic and scientific organizations, as well as the activation of student exchange programs, scholarship initiatives, and mutual diploma recognition. The teaching of Persian as a regional language in Armenian schools was also discussed.
The parties placed particular emphasis on the importance of preserving and promoting the heritage of both peoples in the fields of literary studies and culture, through translation programs, the organization of mutual concerts, and the implementation of joint projects in the field of cinema.
