Initially, the Gulf Arab states did not ask the US to start a war with Iran, but now many of them are calling on Washington not to stop and not to allow Iran to dictate policy in the region, three Gulf sources told Reuters, the latter reports.

This change in the position of regional leaders is linked to Iran's reaction to the US-Israeli strikes. The Gulf Arab states now fear that if Iran is allowed to maintain significant quantities of weapons or military and industrial facilities, the Islamic Republic will be able to constantly threaten the region's energy resources, as is currently happening with Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz and strikes on targets in neighboring countries.

Therefore, Reuters sources note that the Gulf Arab states now believe that Washington should comprehensively weaken Iran's military potential.

For its part, the US is pressuring the Gulf Arab states to join the war against Iran, the same sources, as well as Western and Arab diplomats, told Reuters.
