Israeli and US officials have said that the strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field was coordinated with the White House and approved by US President Donald Trump, Axios reports.
The officials said Qatar was not aware of the Israeli strike in advance, but Trump was.
Israeli officials claim that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump had coordinated the strike, which was intended to prevent Iran from further disrupting oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
The attack on the South Pars gas field was the first time Israel has struck Iranian gas facilities, which are crucial to Iran’s economy.
