It is a great honor for me to host today the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, and the delegation she led. This is the second working visit of Commissioner Kos to our country in the last six months, which is a vivid testimony to the expanding partnership between Armenia and the European Union. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan stated this during a joint statement with visiting European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, on Thursday in Yerevan.

Grigoryan added as follows: “This visit is significant in terms of deepening cooperation between Armenia and the EU in all directions, taking into account also the fact that it takes place ahead of the upcoming European Political Community and EU-Armenia summits to be held in Yerevan.

Today, we have taken a detailed look at the course of the ongoing sectoral reforms in Armenia, which stem from the bilateral commitments undertaken under the [Armenia-EU] Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.

In order to increase the effectiveness of the reform process, make their results more accessible to our citizens, we signed a short while ago the 2025-2027 funding agreement under the Resilience and Growth Plan, whereby we set out ambitious measures; in particular, in the key domains of export diversification, visa liberalization, and public finance management.

We focused, in particular, on regional connectivity issues and, in this context, agreed to continue work on the implementation of the [Armenian] government’s ‘Crossroads of Peace’ initiative, the TRIPP route, and the EU’s interregional connectivity; in particular, the Global Gateway strategy.

I am pleased to note that the Commissioner reaffirmed the EU’s support for Armenia’s integration into the Trans-Caspian transport route. Through Commissioner Kos, we [i.e. Armenia] expressed our gratitude to the leadership of the European Union for the efforts [being made] and attention being paid to increasing democratic resilience in Armenia ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections."
