Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan continues to intimidate Armenia’s citizens by saying that if they do not agree to everything, then he assumes that in that case, a new war and casualties will be inevitable, Russian State Duma member Konstantin Zatulin said in an interview with Lenta.ru.

Earlier, PM Nikol Pashinyan said that the Armenian opposition is preparing to start a new war if it comes to power. He also expressed confidence that calls for a peace revision are written by external forces, and Armenia’s domestic opposition simply repeats them.

“He [i.e. Pashinyan] has intimidated Armenians and the population that does not want any shocks. This line of Pashinyan is clearly visible today, because he has abandoned the national interests of Armenia and continues to do so. He has no other way to hold on to power than to intimidate the [Armenian] population with a [new] war with Azerbaijan, complications with Turkey, and other such things,” Zatulin said.

According to him, this is exactly the strategy that Pashinyan is using to maintain his position in the June 7 parliamentary elections in Armenia.

Zatulin also emphasized that a new war is unlikely, since under the CSTO treaty, Armenia is protected, first and foremost, by Russia.

“This is exactly what Pashinyan is trying to hide, betraying the alliance and pursuing a path of compromise with neighbors who do not hide their aggressive and belligerent intentions,” the Russian lawmaker added.
