It was clearly recorded that the forces led by Robert Kocharyan, Samvel Karapetyan, and Gagik Tsarukyan have adopted a policy of revision of the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on Facebook live stream Friday.

“This means that they are taking the path of opening the door to war. These days, these forces are talking about renegotiating and imposing the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including imposing by force. This clearly and unequivocally means not only opening the door to war, but also making it inevitable.

Even if we go with the most optimistic forecast, reopening the established peace means creating an opportunity to transform the entire content that we have ultimately specified as a result of the negotiation process. At a theoretical level, we can consider that this content can become better. But at the same theoretical level, this content can become worse. But it is much more likely that this content can completely collapse. As this simple, most neutral statistical enumeration shows; that is, it is two against one. There is one possibility that this content can improve, and there are two possibilities that this content can deteriorate. And in the case of these two possibilities, the logic of development leads to war. We must record this very clearly,” Pashinyan declared.

He emphasized that setting aside the established peace means opening the field of war. “Especially in the talk that the political forces, led by [Robert] Kocharyan, [Samvel] Karapetyan, and [Gagik] Tsarukyan, are today voicing and adopting and acting from these positions almost on a daily basis. This is the reason why we say that this crossroads is a historic crossroads.

Peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, we have established that peace, which means we have firmly closed the door to war. Now, the forces I mentioned are trying to open that door, and this is definitely a fatal threat to the security of the Republic of Armenia.

Speaking of guarantors, it is obvious to me and it is obvious to any impartial observer that this talk only opens the door to bringing peacekeepers into our region and our country. And what consequences the activities of peacekeepers have brought before our eyes, we have all seen it, and the forces leading to stand on the same rake twice must be unequivocally and irrevocably rejected,” the Armenian premier said.

He reminded that Armenia had a security guarantor, whose obligations were de jure very clearly and very thoroughly worded, but that mechanism did not work.

“Such mechanisms do not work, and history, including the history of the Armenian people, has shown this. Peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia was established only and only because we placed our hopes not on the guarantor, but on ourselves. We considered it our problem and the problem we had to solve.

And on the contrary, when our thinking was guarantor, conditionally speaking, we thought that here is a guarantor and it must solve the issues, or we must solve these issues through it, every time it has brought us to escalation, aggravation, it has brought to war, losses.

We have established peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan at the cost of heavy losses. But we have reached a new historic milestone, when we have replaced the survival agenda with the development agenda. And all those who want to open the door to the revision of peace inevitably push us, try to push us from the development period to the survival period.

Moreover, in all these cases, our history has shown that we survive, not in our homeland, in our state, but in foreign states. This is also the reason why the emissaries of foreign states come up with the peace revision agenda. And I have no doubt that in the 2026 parliamentary elections [in June], the people of the Republic of Armenia will stand up for peace, because it is the peace they created, the peace achieved at the cost of their deprivations, their sufferings, their losses, their thoughts, their revisions.

This is your peace, esteemed, beloved, respected citizen of the Republic of Armenia, and you must stand up for your peace, your state, your independence, your sovereignty.
