Armenia and Turkey are discussing the possible resumption of rail service on the Gyumri–Kars railway. This was stated on March 23 by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at a session of the standing parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, during the presentation of the report on the progress and results of the implementation of the Government of the Republic of Armenia's program (2021–2026) for 2025.

"We are conducting a fairly dynamic, positive and promising dialogue with Turkey," the head of the foreign policy department said. According to him, part of this work is being carried out "on the ground." Discussions have taken place regarding the launch of both rail and road connections between Gyumri and Kars. "For example, a joint working group was established to resume service on the Gyumri–Kars railway. It has held two sessions," Mirzoyan added. As the Minister assured, the existing infrastructure and its condition have been inspected by both the Armenian and Turkish sides.
