Lebanese authorities have revoked the accreditation of Iran's ambassador and declared him persona non grata, according to a statement from Lebanon's Foreign Ministry.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iran's chargé d'affaires in Beirut, Tofiq Samadi Khoshkhu. He was received by the Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Abdel Sattar Issa, who informed him of the Lebanese state's decision to withdraw its agreement to the accreditation of the designated Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Reza Shibani, to declare him persona non grata, and to demand that he leave Lebanese territory no later than Sunday, March 29, 2026," the statement read.

In the same context, Lebanon's Foreign Ministry recalled its ambassador to Iran, Ahmad Suweidan, for consultations, amid what Beirut described as Tehran's violation of the diplomatic norms and rules governing relations between the two countries.
