Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has praised German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier for his condemnation of human rights violations against the Iranian people.
"International law has in practice lost its force due to the West's double standards regarding Gaza and Syria, Ukraine, and the silence over the Israeli-American aggression against Iran. Nevertheless, credit must be given to President Steinmeier for condemning the violations against the Iranians. Those who value the rule of law must also speak out," Araghchi wrote on X.
As Deutsche Welle reports, on Tuesday, March 24, at an event in Berlin marking the 75th anniversary of Germany's Foreign Ministry, Steinmeier criticized the military campaign in Iran, stating that it "contradicts international law" and "could have been avoided."
