Strikes on Iranian and Israeli nuclear facilities could lead to a "complete catastrophe," UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Türk warned as the UN Human Rights Council discussed Tehran's attacks in the Persian Gulf, AFP reports.
"Recent missile strikes near nuclear facilities in both Israel and Iran underscore the enormous danger of further escalation. States are flirting with a genuine catastrophe," Türk said in a video address.
Iran's recent missile strike targeted the city of Dimona, located approximately 9 kilometers from Israel's nuclear research center. Meanwhile, the United States and Israel have repeatedly struck the territory surrounding Bushehr.
