The commander of the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran, Alireza Tangsiri, was killed during the conflict waged by the US and Israel against Iran, the IRGC officially announced.

"The IRGC Vice Admiral, martyr Alireza Tangsiri... fell victim to the aggressors' attack and died of serious injuries," the IRGC said in a statement, reported the Iranian state television and radio corporation.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz had stated that Tangsiri was killed as a result of an Israeli strike.
