US President Donald Trump has made a series of tough demands to Iran, threatening to strike the country’s power plants and oil wells, as well as occupy its strategically important Kharg Island, if talks to end the war fail.

“Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately 'Open for Business,' we will conclude our lovely 'stay' in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet 'touched,’” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Washington's key demand remains the complete unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20 percent of the world's oil and natural gas deliveries normally pass. Trump had earlier given Iran an ultimatum to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, or the US would begin bombing Iranian civilian power plants.
