“The Israeli army carried out strikes on air defense sites near the Caspian Sea, more than 1,600 kilometers from Israeli territory,” the Israel Defense Forces announced.

“As part of a series of strikes completed on Sunday, the Israeli Air Force, acting on intelligence information, targeted a facility where air defense systems had been deployed near the Caspian Sea in northern Iran.

The destroyed air defense systems posed a threat to Israeli Air Force aircraft,” the statement said.
