Iranian citizens have been banned from entering the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and transiting through the country, the latter's largest airline, Emirates, has announced.

Earlier, media reported that this restriction applies to all persons holding Iranian passports.

According to available information, this ban applies also to Iranian nationals with residency rights in the UAE, including "golden visas" or tourist visas.

Iranian citizens using transit flights via Dubai will also not be exempt from this restriction.
