Rail transport through Azerbaijan is strengthening economic relations between Armenia and Russia. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Armenia-Russia relations are developing dynamically in new realities, now that peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“I believe this also positively affects our relations with the Russian Federation. Since our independence, this is the first time we have had rail connections with Russia. We import via Azerbaijan by rail from Russia. I hope that in the near future we will also be able to export. This, of course, strengthens our traditional economic ties,” he said.
