At the initiative of the Turkish side, a phone conversation took place between the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Kremlin reported.

An in-depth exchange of views was held regarding the ongoing escalation of military and political confrontation in the Persian Gulf region. It was noted that the intense hostilities are leading to serious negative consequences not only on a regional but also on a global scale, including in energy, trade, and logistics areas.

The two leaders noted a convergence of positions on the need for an immediate ceasefire and the development of compromise peace agreements that would take into account the legitimate interests of all countries in the region.

During the discussion of the situation around Ukraine, Putin expressed gratitude to Erdogan for his consistent willingness to facilitate the relevant negotiation process. In light of attempts by the Kyiv regime to strike gas transportation infrastructure linking Russia and Turkey, as well as commercial vessels in the Black Sea, the importance of coordinated measures to ensure comprehensive security in the Black Sea region was emphasized.

Further steps to expand Russian-Turkish political and trade-economic ties were also discussed, particularly the implementation of joint strategic projects in the energy sector.
