This time Iran will not accept the idea of a ceasefire with the US and Israel. Reliable mechanisms must be created to make a new round of aggression impossible, Iranian ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami stated at an event held at Yerevan State University on Tuesday.

Shirgholami expressed hope that the aggressive war will stop and a real end will be put to the conflict, and noted that this can be easily achieved if the US regains wisdom.

The Iranian ambassador to Armenia stressed that US President Donald Trump’s “America First” slogan has become “Israel First,” considering this as the root cause of the conflict.

“We [i.e. Iran] hope that wisdom will return to the White House and that it will stop the criminal [Israeli PM Benjamin] Netanyahu. I also hope that some countries will come to understand that this will have very serious consequences for them and the whole world, including economic [ones]. I hope that those countries that are really concerned about these consequences should force the US and Israel to stop their aggression against Iran,” Shirgholami noted.

He reiterated that Iran does not simply seek a ceasefire, but advocates a real cessation of hostilities and conflict.

“The last time, during the 12-day war, when Israel was under heavy pressure and was being hit by Iranian missiles, they asked the US to intervene and initiate a ceasefire, and we accepted this idea. What happened? Six months later, the aggression resumed,” the Iranian diplomat noted.
