The American soldiers who survived the Iranian attack on a US base in Kuwait have accused Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth of lying, CBS News reports.

Survivors of the deadliest attack by Iran on US forces since the start of the war are challenging the Pentagon's version of events and insisting that their unit in Kuwait was in danger.

The servicemembers have challenged Hegseth's version of events, who claimed that the drone had crashed into a fortified facility. One of the wounded soldiers called this a lie, stressing that the position was not fortified and the unit was not adequately protected.

To say “one drone came in” is a lie. The unit was not prepared to provide any defense. It was not a fortified position, the soldier said.

The aforesaid attack had killed six people and injured more than 20; the deadliest attack on US troops since 2021.

The servicemembers said those who survived the attack suffered severe head injuries, bleeding, and hearing loss from the explosion.
