Strong pressure and Tehran’s threat to pull out of talks with the US in Islamabad have forced Israel to halt its military attacks on Beirut, a senior Iranian security source told Press TV.

According to the source, “after Israel’s brutal aggression against Lebanon on Wednesday, Iran has made the cessation of those attacks an unwavering precondition for participating in temporary ceasefire talks with the US.”

He hastened to add that the Iranian delegation’s visit to Islamabad has been postponed several times due to Israel’s continued aggression against Lebanon.

The source added that through constant demands and credible threats to pull out of the talks, Iran has forced the US to pressure Israel to stop its attacks on Beirut.

He also stressed that the continuation of the negotiations depends on Israel refraining from attacks on Lebanon.

Iran has issued a clear warning that continued attacks on Lebanon could ultimately completely undermine the negotiation process.

The source warned unequivocally that if the bombing of Beirut resumes, the negotiations will be immediately suspended.
