French President Emmanuel Macron met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which the two leaders discussed key international issues ranging from the situation in the Middle East to the war in Ukraine and prospects for regional cooperation.

"I reaffirmed, particularly ahead of the European Political Community summit taking place on May 4 in Yerevan, France's support for the peace process in the South Caucasus, which should open a new chapter for the region — with open borders and strengthened regional cooperation," Macron wrote on X.

During the talks, the leaders paid particular attention to the situation in the Middle East. Macron stressed the need to uphold the ceasefire in Lebanon, as well as the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and finding a sustainable diplomatic solution to regional crises.

Ukraine was addressed as a separate topic. The two sides discussed joint work within the framework of the so-called "Coalition of the Willing," aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace. According to Macron, such a peace must be consistent with United Nations principles and accompanied by reliable security guarantees for Kyiv.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness for further engagement at both the bilateral level and within international initiatives.
