Two empty supertankers attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz into the Persian Gulf,only to make last-minute U-turns just as peace negotiations between the US and Iran broke down, Bloomberg reports.
Late on Saturday evening, three very large crude carriers began approaching the narrow waterway from the Gulf of Oman, reaching the area near Iran’s Larak Island early Sunday.
The tanker Agios Fanourios I, bound for Iraq, and Pakistan’s Shalamar, headed to Das Island in the UAE, both reversed course.
