Mohsen Rezaei, a military advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader and former overall Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of the country, has said that any US attempt to blockade Iran at sea is doomed to failure. He stressed that Tehran will not allow such a move, and the Islamic Republic has "considerable and as yet unused capabilities" to counter threats.
The statement was prompted by US President Donald Trump's announcement that the US Navy was starting to block ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump referred to the failure of talks in Islamabad, noting that Iran did not agree to the free movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz and threatened to mine the strait.
