Last year, we recorded a record life expectancy in the Republic of Armenia—78.4, which is an unprecedented number in our history, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a meeting with representatives of Armenia’s large employers on Monday.
“This is a very big and significant factor, which is one of our main goals. Our goal is for a person to live long, but to live as well as possible while living long. I also consider it very important that for the first time in our history, the average [monthly] pension [in Armenia] is more than the consumer basket—and is noticeably higher. This is also the result of cooperation between the economy and the government,” Pashinyan added.
He stated that the next issue that citizens are raising is the influx of labor into Armenia.
“On the one hand, we have a problem of unemployment, but on the other hand, I am convinced that many of you also have a problem of filling jobs. Frankly speaking, in order to understand this dilemma, I think we need to have more active communication,” Pashinyan said, in particular.
Touching upon the promotion of job creation in Armenia, the premier spoke also about the government’s social policy, according to which a person able to work should ensure his livelihood and well-being through work.
“But of course, in the context of all this, the most important thing is education and educational transformation, so that we can assist people in that regard," the Armenian PM added, above all.
