Turkey has made great efforts to establish peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated, adding that his country borders the Caucasus, and the wars and instability taking place there also have a direct impact on Turkey.
“Therefore, we [i.e. Turkey] are making very serious efforts in ensuring law and order and security in this region, as well as in matters related to the security system. We have made great efforts to achieve peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, from moderate use of force to quality diplomacy, keeping regional countries and world powers in balance so that the acute conflict there does not affect Turkey,” Fidan noted.
The Turkish FM said that Ankara has a vast strategic zone in the Middle East, the Caucasus, the Black and Mediterranean sea basins, and also plays an important role in European security, which according to him, has always been shaped under the auspices of NATO, and Turkey has also played its role in this context.
