Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has threatened to launch military action against Israel, announcing the possibility of sending troops to the Jewish state, The Jerusalem Post reports.

Erdogan announced this on April 12, answering reporters' questions.

"Just as we entered Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we will do the same to them [i.e. Israel]," he stated.

The Turkish president did not rule out the possibility of military intervention, noting that Ankara will do everything possible to prevent the displacement of Palestinians.

"Despite the ceasefire, Israel has forced 1.2 million Lebanese to leave their homes due to attacks on civilian settlements. We must be strong to prevent Israel from doing this to Palestine," Erdogan said.

Israel's Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu sharply condemned Erdogan's remarks He described the Turkish president as a "megalomaniacal dictator" with "imperialist ambitions."

Also, the minister vowed to bring a proposal before the Israeli government to sever diplomatic ties with Turkey completely.
