The US Navy has officially acknowledged the loss of a valuable unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the Middle East.

A MQ-4C Triton reconnaissance drone had crashed on April 9. There are no reports of casualties. But due to operational safety considerations, the location of the crash is not being disclosed.

According to available data, the MQ-4C Triton drone costs nearly $240 million.

On April 9, it was reported that an American Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton drone sent a distress signal while flying over the Strait of Hormuz. The drone continued its flight, but soon began to experience transponder failures. Later, north of Bahrain, the Triton plummeted from 16 km to 3 km in a matter of minutes. The drone's transponder also went down.
