Global oil prices have dropped slightly on the back of statements from the White House expressing "optimism" about the possible resumption of talks with Iran, Reuters reports.

Accordingly, Brent oil futures fell by 0.5% to $94.49 per barrel, while WTI oil fell by 0.8% to $90.59 per barrel.

Sources note signs of possible progress in the aforesaid talks. It was previously reported that Pakistani army commander Asim Munir visited Tehran to discuss the issue of returning to dialogue.

Against this background, Asian markets rose. South Korea's Kospi index rose almost 1.9%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 0.68%, and Taiwan's Taiex index rose 0.48%.
