Lebanon is embroiled in a war it did not choose, the country’s foreign minister, Youssef Rajji, said.
He stressed that Beirut wants to regain control over decisions related to war and peace, as well as establish state sovereignty over the entire territory of Lebanon.
In a post on X, the Lebanese foreign minister reported on his discussion with his Australian counterpart, Penny Wong. The latter expressed support for steps aimed at expanding state control throughout Lebanon and noted that she was ready to provide necessary humanitarian assistance to Lebanon.
Also, Youssef Rajji expressed hope that the ongoing negotiations will allow for the return of the occupied Lebanese territories and ensure the quick withdrawal of Israeli forces.
