The international community must unite efforts to prevent the repetition of tragedies such as the Armenian Genocide, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

In his address to the participants of the events commemorating the 111th anniversary of the tragedy, the head of Russian state noted that the mass killings, deportations, and persecutions of Armenians were one of the most terrible disasters of the 20th century and show the consequences of inciting ethnic and religious hatred.

Putin emphasized that the policy of mass extermination on the basis of ethnicity is unjust, and he called for the prevention of such events in the future.

He also noted that the tragic events experienced are a grave wound for the Armenian people, but at the same time contributed to their unity and the preservation of national traditions.

In conclusion, the Russian president wished the Armenian people peace, well-being, and prosperity.
