French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu on Friday delivered an address at an event in Marseille—and dedicated to the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

He recalled this tragedy suffered by the Armenian people 111 years ago, the extermination of entire villages, as well as the deportation and murder of Armenians.

Also, the premier emphasized France's role in the fight against this disaster.

Lecornu recalled that Marseille hosted 58 thousand Armenian refugees, whose descendants still live in the city.
